Hampton Court Palace

Historic Royal Palaces is an independent charity which looks after HamptonCourtPalace.  The organisation does not receive funding from the Government or the Crown and therefore relies on support from visitors, members, sponsors and volunteers. The Palace is over 500 years old and is set in exquisite gardens on the banks of the River Thames. The charity’s aim is to help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built. Volunteers play a significant role at Hampton Court providing links between the palace, visitors and local community. The aim of everyone involved with Hampton Court is to help preserve the past for the future. The volunteers will assist visitors by pointing out key places to visit - would they like to visit the Tudor kitchens, the gardens or the King's apartments? Or visitors may just need directions or audio equipment.  However you get involved, you will be helping to enrich the visitors’ experience of the stories, romance, intrigue and legend of this wonderful place.

Hogsmill Action Group
One of the more picturesque natural features of the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames is the HogsmillRiver, which winds along the HogsmillValley until it reaches the Thames in KingstonTown. The Hogsmill Action Group are a team of people interested in promoting, maintaining and preserving the Hogsmill Walk. With the leadership and support from the Royal Borough of Kingston, the Hogsmill Action Group carries out a range of activities along the river, such as  clean-ups, guided walks, conservation and maintenance activities. There are about 160 volunteers involved with the group but not everyone gets involved in every single activity. You can choose which ones you would like to participate in, which will suit those with varying availability. For more information contact Alex

Positive Environment Kingston (PEK)
Kingston Council’s Environment & Sustainability Department are constantly striving to improve environmental issues in the borough. PEK is an exciting new initiative which aims to build the capacity of organisations and businesses in
Kingston to improve their sustainability performance, and promote best practice to help reduce the borough’s ecological footprint. PEK is now entering it’s 3rd year and has recently won several national awards for it’s work. Volunteers are trained as environmental mentors who then support the local organisations who have signed up to become involved. Mentors visit their organisation regularly helping them improve through research, monitoring, inspiration and ideas as well as delivery and advice. In particular they help the organisation to develop an Environmental Action Plan, prioritising areas such as reducing waste, recycling, buying locally, alternative transport, energy and water saving as well as procurement of green energy. For more information contact Alex
PEK is currently on hold, and it is hoped that it will resume in January, in the mean time please contact Alex to express an interest.
