► How to set up a Sports Club

How to set up a Sports Club

If you can't find what you are looking for in our current list of sports on offer, then why not set up your own club?

Got an idea for a sports club that we don't currently have? Then why not set-up your own?

In the current climate of Education, many people need and want to get more out of University than just a degree. There's a saying that goes "Don't just get a degree, get an education!" Getting a degree at University doesn't necessarily mean as much as it used to! To be attractive to the 'real' world you may need extra transferable life skills.

Joining a club can:

  • Increase your EMPLOYABILITY
  • Improve your SKILLS
  • Enhance your SOCIAL LIFE
  • Introduce you to new FRIENDS
  • Be FUN
  • Allow you to get INVOLVED
  • MAKE YOU DO SOMETHING

But if nothing interests you from the list of current KUSU Clubs or you fancy something new, start up your own!

The Start-up Checklist

The steps below give you a brief outline of what you need to do to start your own club. For a more complete run through, download the booklet at the bottom of this page.

  1. Check that your activitiy doesn't duplicate a current club as we can't fund two similar activities.
  2. Get the names of 20 interested current Kingston students , choosing a committee of three members from them.
  3. Hand-in a draft constitution (the main aims of the club) and club profile (what will be needed to run the club e.g. equipment) to the Sports Office
  4. Organise a meeting with the Sports Co-ordinator who will run through your consitution and club profile.
  5. If successful (and most are!) you will finally have to attend a training session where all the ins and out of club life are explained. The SU is here to provide you with the best student experience and will support you in establishing the activity.
