► Mitigating Circumstances

Mitigating Circumstances

During your time here you may run into problems which may unfortunately have a negative effect on your studies.

Should you feel that things are happening outside your studies which are affecting your ability to work to your full potential, you should talk to your Personal Tutor or Faculty Support Officer about Mitigating Circumstances. It is important that you do this before your assessment deadline. Unless you can provide sufficient evidence to back up your case, the University does not accept mitigating circumstances handed in after you get your results. If you are aware something is affecting you, it is your responsibility to raise it with your Faculty.

You should also be aware that if you turn up to take an exam, you are deeming yourself fit to take the assessment. You will not be able to hand in mitigating circumstances if you take an assessment, find out you haven’t performed as well as you’d have liked, and then decide you were unwell at the time.

More information can be found on Student Space or by talking to your Faculty Support Officer, or Personal Tutor.
